Upon further review... (1/28/08)

A closer look at the action form last weekend with the help of some nifty widgets from StatSheet.com.

*Vandy @ Florida

The Gators dominated the ‘Dores for the majority of this game, fueled by a sparkling 26/10 Assist/Turnover ratio. It didn’t help that Vandy turned the ball over 16 times and 7 of those were Gator steals.

*Georgia @ Tennessee

It’s safe to say the Vols were shooting well in this one, turning in ridiculous shooting percentages from the floor (57.1%) and the arc (45%). Bruce Pearl couldn’t have been happy with the 12-27 (44.4%) effort from the FT line though. But with the ‘Dawgs shooting 18.2% from the arc and turning the ball over 21 times, it really didn’t matter.

*South Carolina @ Kentucky

This was the only relatively close game of the weekend. The most glaring differential here is FTs shot – UK 23, USC 2. A 16-point differential from the line in an 8 point game. The ‘Cats also stroked it from the floor (51%) and the arc (61.5%).

*Ole Miss @ Mississippi State

The Bulldogs are finally starting to play the way everyone thought they would. They shot a ridiculous 56.7% from the floor and blocked 8 Rebel shots. Ole Miss struggled everywhere, but especially from the arc, hitting just 4-17 3s (23.5%)

*Arkansas @ LSU

The Hogs finally figured out how to win on the road: hit 10-15 3s (66.7%) and hold your opponent to 29% (20-69) from the floor. The Tigers did themselves no favors from the arc either, hitting 5-26 (19.2%). To further illustrate how bad LSU is at this point, the Hogs had an 8/17 Assist/Turnover ratio and still won by 16.

*Auburn @ Alabama

Perhaps the most ridiculous team stat of the weekend is Alabama’s 19-4 Assist/Turnover ratio. Playing without a true PG, the Tide showed what they’re capable of, shooting 53.7% from the floor and 48% from the arc. Auburn somehow managed to shoot 50% from the floor and lose by 20. Go figure.
